This medication is used to alleviate symptoms that occur due to the reflux of acid, bile, and pepsin into the oesophagus. These symptoms may include acid regurgitation, heartburn, and indigestion, which can be caused by stomach contents refluxing after gastric surgery, hiatus hernia, during pregnancy, or accompanying reflux oesophagitis. The medication may also help with symptoms of laryngopharyngeal reflux, such as hoarseness, sore throats, and coughing. It can also be used to treat symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux in combination with acid-suppressing therapy or following its withdrawal.
